The Farmer’s Dog: Why All Dogs Deserve Fresh Food

It’s become evident in the world today that that starvation and lack of nutritious resources is an issue that pervades nations, races and even species. In considering the food we put in our own bodies, we often try our best to be at the height of health-conscientiousness, and supply ourselves and loved ones with only the best ingredients. Though loved and cared for, our furry four-legged loved ones are constantly overlooked when it comes to the category of nutrition.

That’s where we come in.

Here at The Farmers Dog we’re more than just strong proponents to the idea that every dog should have fresh food, but rather are advocates for them. Starting at the gut, fresh food is known to increase the longevity and quality of all canine lives. In a sense, it’s getting animals back to their roots of better food for their bodies. At the genesis of commercial pet food, it was first created by James Spratt in the 1890’s as a means of convenience and separation between human-grade and animal-grade food (as they had previously been parallel). Historically, as the market became more saturated with other brands, the industry had easily developed bad practices. Unregulated pet food conditions have a tradition of including toxins that cause obesity, dental disease, cancer and more in pets across America. In a report released by the Association of American Feed Controls Official (AAFCO), it was stated that not only is traditional kibble processed, but also includes diseased “carcasses or parts rejected for human use.” Such a standard that should prompt pet parents everywhere to reevaluate what they feed their pets.

Juxtaposing this, The Farmer’s Dog doesn’t just include ingredients that look real, but actually are. For instance, our meals include proteins and vegetable that are perishable and require refrigeration just like the food we consume. All of which ingredients exceed AAFCO standards and meet USDA standards for human food with added vitamins/ minerals. In all, our fresh food aims to extend the lives of our favorite furry animals as the best option for the best quality of life.

Long. Live. Dogs.
